No More Push Buttons in the Future?

There was an article from Discovery back in 2000 entitled "20 Things that Will be Obsolete in 20 Years." The article posed a question: Will push buttons soon be replaced by voice-activated controls? At best, the answer to the question was very ambitious. At worst, it's already here!
These days if you read a lot, you'll come across such things as "networked homes" or "smart homes". The first time I learned about them, I thought it was illegal to own one. But in the Netherlands and Japan, these homes of the future already exist. They were actually the first prototypes of real homes that tell you PUSH BUTTONS ARE ALREADY OBSOLETE!
The scenario is very simple: You just talk to your house. Or use your cellphone to control your home's functions. Or activate biometric IDs to enable access to all your home's facilities! In Japan, the JEITA house project sponsored by the Japanese government and some associations will soon be commercialized and sold at $37,450.
So what exactly is a JEITA house?
