The Internet: The Truth is [not] out there

In the gaming circle, we'd hear reports about leakages of game screenshots and get access to them, to the remorse of the publishers and developers. It happens all the time. Ethics is too lame an idea to stop hackers from picking through IP addresses and obtaining assets.
Information online is as unique as we are, as unique as our individual perception of truths, so unless there's a worldwide concensus what "truth" is, we'll never get to the bottom of the issue of online information security. The spread of information online, whether authentic or not, is exponential, and judging its authenticity may have yet to depend on one governing body where virtually anyone can have a say.
Looking back two decades from now, it makes me wonder whether the Internet should have been invented at all. The Internet brings out the sado-masochists in all of us. Like the Bluetooth headset addict who's getting deaf but not letting go of the gadget, I wouldn't want it otherwise!
Time will come when even our own sequenced genetic codes will be published online. Take heart, no one will want to know about it but your health insurance provider.
